The Compassion Practice is a Manhattan-based private practice and training center for Compassion Focused Therapy. We strive to meet our clients needs through a combination of evidence-based practices like (CBT, CFT, DBT & other), careful client-therapist matching, and a genuine human connection.
Racheli Miller, Ph.D, Founder and Clinical Director, has spent her life wondering what shape our society, the world around us and our personal relationships, might take if we looked at every stranger and remembered that they and us, that WE, share common humanity. What healing could be possible, and what new ways of being might be unleashed?
When carrying shame, self criticism, grief or trauma, to find relief and make sense of our experiences can feel nearly impossible. When we are compassionate with ourselves and others we can move toward what feels meaningful and enriching. When we process our pain we can more easily open ourselves up to feeling more connected and present, and make room for feeling more alive. The Compassion Practice is made up of warm, kind, creative compassion focused therapists who believe and embody this fully.
Dr. Miller began her career with a B.A. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, before earning her M.A. and PhD. in Clinical Psychology from the Derner School of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. Through her training and now with many years of experience in practice, Racheli has employed the science of compassion to help clients cultivate their intuition, wisdom, courage and inner kindness. Inspired by Dr. Miller’s approach, our therapists strive to bring a genuine and individualized human connection to each of our clients. We want to help you find the strength and power that self compassion brings in order to move forward along a meaningful and enlightening path. We hope you’ll join us!
